Targeted, firm-pressure massage that reaches deep muscle layers to release chronic tension, break up knots, and address persistent pain. Available at Breathe Massage & Fitness in Englewood.
Deep tissue massage uses slow, deliberate strokes and firm finger or elbow pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue (fascia). It targets adhesions, scar tissue, and chronic muscle tension that surface-level massage can’t reach.
Unlike Swedish massage, which focuses on relaxation, deep tissue is therapeutic. Expect more pressure, slower pacing, and a focus on specific problem areas rather than a full-body flow.
Your therapist will start with a consultation about your problem areas and pain history. The session uses slow, focused pressure rather than long flowing strokes. You may experience some discomfort as deep adhesions release, but it should never feel sharp or harmful — we adjust pressure based on your feedback throughout.
It’s normal to feel some soreness for a day or two after a deep tissue session, similar to how you might feel after a hard workout. Drink plenty of water afterward to help flush metabolic waste released from the muscles.
For chronic issues, weekly or biweekly sessions are recommended at first, transitioning to monthly maintenance once your tension patterns improve. Our membership plans make consistent sessions affordable starting at $120 per session.
Sessions start at $75 for 30 minutes (good for one focused problem area) and $147 for 60 minutes. For multiple problem areas, 90-minute sessions at $216 give your therapist enough time to address each area thoroughly. See full pricing.
