Massage Add-On

E-Stim Therapy in Englewood, CO

Advanced TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) combined with therapeutic massage for enhanced pain relief, faster muscle recovery, and rehabilitation support. Available at Breathe Massage & Fitness.

What Is E-Stim Therapy?

E-Stim (Electrical Stimulation) therapy uses gentle, low-voltage electrical impulses delivered through pads placed on the skin to stimulate nerves and muscles. Specifically, we use TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), which interrupts pain signals to the brain and triggers the release of natural pain-relieving endorphins.

When combined with hands-on massage in the same session, E-Stim amplifies the therapeutic effect — the electrical stimulation relaxes deep muscle fibers and reduces pain perception, allowing your therapist to work more deeply into problem areas without discomfort.

How E-Stim and Massage Work Together

Your therapist starts by placing E-Stim pads on the target area — commonly the lower back, neck, shoulders, IT band, or any muscle group dealing with chronic tension. As the gentle pulses begin, you’ll feel a soothing tingling or light tapping sensation. The intensity is adjustable and should always feel comfortable.

While the E-Stim works, your therapist applies massage techniques to surrounding areas. After 10-15 minutes, the pads come off and your therapist works directly on the targeted muscles, which are now relaxed and more responsive to deep tissue work.

Benefits of E-Stim Therapy

  • Enhanced pain relief through nerve stimulation
  • Accelerates muscle recovery after injury or training
  • Reduces muscle spasms and chronic tension
  • Improves circulation to injured or sore areas
  • Helps with rehabilitation from sports injuries
  • Triggers endorphin release for natural pain management
  • Allows for deeper massage work with less discomfort

Who Benefits from E-Stim?

  • Athletes recovering from sports injuries
  • People with chronic back, neck, or joint pain
  • Anyone dealing with muscle spasms or persistent tightness
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation (with physician clearance)
  • Workers with repetitive strain injuries
  • People who haven’t found relief from massage alone

Is E-Stim Safe?

For most people, yes — TENS therapy has been used safely in physical therapy and rehabilitation for decades. However, it’s not appropriate for everyone. Avoid E-Stim if you have: a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, epilepsy, pregnancy (without physician approval), or active cancer in the treatment area. If you have a medical condition, talk to your physician first.

What to Expect

The sensation is mild and adjustable — you’re in control of the intensity throughout. Most clients describe it as “a soothing buzzing” or “like gentle taps from inside the muscle.” You should never feel sharp pain or burning. After the session, expect to feel relaxed and notice reduced pain or stiffness in the treated area.

Pricing

E-Stim is offered as an add-on to your regular massage session. We recommend at least a 60-minute booking ($147) to allow enough time for the combined therapy. See full pricing.
