Gentle, rhythmic massage that supports your lymphatic system — helping reduce swelling, support recovery after surgery, and boost immune function. Available at Breathe Massage & Fitness in Englewood.
Lymphatic drainage massage (also called manual lymph drainage, or MLD) is a gentle, precise technique that uses light pressure and rhythmic, wave-like movements to encourage the natural flow of lymph fluid through your body. Unlike deep tissue or sports massage, the pressure is very light — the lymphatic system sits just below the skin.
Your lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your tissues and supporting your immune response. When it’s sluggish or congested (after surgery, illness, prolonged sitting, or inflammation), targeted bodywork can help restore healthy flow.
This is a much lighter, slower massage than what most people associate with bodywork. Your therapist uses gentle, stretching motions on the skin in specific directions that mirror the lymphatic system’s flow toward the lymph nodes. You may not feel like “much is happening” in the moment, but the effects on circulation and inflammation are real.
It’s common to feel deeply relaxed during the session and to urinate more frequently afterward as your body processes released fluid. Drink plenty of water before and after.
Lymphatic drainage isn’t appropriate for everyone. Avoid this technique if you have an acute infection, blood clots (DVT), congestive heart failure, or untreated cancer. If you have a medical condition, get clearance from your physician before booking.
Sessions start at $75 for 30 minutes and $147 for 60 minutes. Post-surgery recovery often benefits from a series of sessions; our membership plans (starting at $120 per session) make consistent care affordable. See full pricing.
