Benefits of Sports Massage

Why our Littleton clients choose sports massage for pain relief and recovery:

  • Reduces delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) after hard training.
  • Improves range of motion in hips, shoulders, and thoracic spine.
  • Flushes metabolic waste and lactic acid to shorten recovery windows.
  • Identifies movement restrictions and asymmetries before they become injuries.
  • Supports pre-event activation and post-event decompression protocols.
  • Complements strength and conditioning programming — not a substitute for rest.

What to Expect: Our Process

Every session is assessment-driven and customized. Here’s how it works.

1. Intake & assessment

We review your sport, training load, current pain, and recent injuries. Our licensed therapists use movement screens, not guesswork.

2. Targeted therapeutic work

Deep tissue, trigger point release, myofascial techniques, passive stretching, and cupping or E-Stim add-ons as indicated.

3. Mobility & homework

You leave with 2–3 specific mobility drills to protect the work between sessions.

Licensed Therapists. Real Results.

Every therapist at Breathe Massage & Fitness is licensed by the State of Colorado and trained specifically in therapeutic work for active bodies.

We’re not a spa. We’re a therapeutic massage studio for people dealing with pain, recovery, and performance goals. Our clients come to fix problems — and they come back because it works.

Sports Massage FAQs

What makes sports massage different from a regular massage?

Sports massage is outcome-driven and sport-specific. We assess your movement, train the tissue that your sport loads most, and use deeper pressure, passive stretching, and modalities like cupping or E-Stim. Regular relaxation massage is wonderful — it’s just a different goal.

How often should I get a sports massage?

During heavy training blocks, every 2–3 weeks. During base phases, once a month. Before or after a key race or competition, within 48 hours on either side. We’ll build a cadence that matches your calendar.

Do I have to be injured?

No — sports massage is preventative first. The athletes who see us every 3–4 weeks miss fewer sessions and stay on their plans. Come before the injury.

Is it covered by insurance?

We don’t bill insurance, but HSA and FSA cards are accepted for therapeutic massage services.

How long should my first session be?

We recommend 90 minutes for your first visit. Sessions start at $75 (30 min) and go up to $288 (2 hours). Members get every session at the discounted rate plus complimentary cupping.
